Express Entry: 635 ITAs Issued to PNP Candidates

Express Entry: Back-to-Back CEC and PNP Draws

To start off September, Canada invited 635 PNP-linked Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency.

On September 1, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent out invitations to apply (ITAs) to successful Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with profiles in the federal Express Entry system.

To be among the 635 candidates for this draw, a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 764 points was required. This is because once a PNP candidate has obtained a provincial nomination, they automatically receive an additional 600 points to their Express Entry profile.

Prior to their nomination, the lowest-scoring candidate of this draw likely had a score of only 164 points. According to the IRCC, the maximum number of points you can possibly receive on your CRS score is 1,200.

In order to receive an ITA for this draw, candidates also had to submit their Express Entry profile before April 12, 2021 at 12:21:45 UTC. Those who have received invitations now have up to 60 days to complete their permanent residency applications.

PNP-Focused Draws

Canada continues to focus on inviting candidates from the PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) categories as they work to achieve their immigration goals for 2021.

As travel continues to be an issue due to the pandemic, other economic immigration classes have not seen any applicants invited this year.

The IRCC is also experiencing a major backlog of applications as they work to welcome new immigrants, due to limited capacity.

As we approach the end of the third quarter of the year, it is becoming more and more likely that the current Express Entry trends will continue.

About the Express Entry System

In order to accommodate the growing number of skilled workers immigrating to Canada, the IRCC established the federal Express Entry system in 1995. Candidates interested in immigrating may apply to any of the three federal programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP); the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP); and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Upon submitting an application into the federal system, candidates are then assessed and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The CRS score is based on a points system that ranks candidates on a number of human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and more.
