The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited 74 candidates with key occupations in the technology sector to apply for a provincial nomination.
The recent Tech draw issued invitations for provincial nomination through British Columbia’s newest BC Tech stream. In June of this year, BC PNP’s Tech Pilot program was made permanent, and has now been incorporated as an immigration stream.
Candidates in both the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories received invitations for this draw. To be eligible for an invitation from the BC PNP, applicants needed to have an active profile in the province’s immigration streams. Each candidate also had a valid job offer from one of British Columbia’s 29 listed tech occupations.
For this draw, BC Tech Stream applicants were required to meet the minimum scores:
- Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker – 80 points
- Express Entry BC: International Graduate – 80 points
- Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker – 80 points
- Skills Immigration: International Graduate – 80 points
As of the date of draw, candidates have 30 calendar days to submit their nomination application.
British Columbia has now invited a total of 7,601 provincial nomination applications for 2021. The BC PNP continues to remain active and holds regular draws inviting candidates with high scores.
More on the BC PNP and the BC Tech Stream
British Columbia regularly invites skilled workers with in-demand occupations to apply for provincial nomination. Applicants who wish to settle in Canada through the province may register a profile to their online Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Upon submission, applicants are given a score based on various factors to determine their capacity to settle in the province. These can include education, work experience, language skills, and ties to British Columbia.
Apart from their provincial immigration streams, the province announced last June 1 that their Tech Pilot program would be made a permanent BC Tech Stream.
As previously mentioned, candidates must have an active profile in one of the BC PNP’s immigration streams and have a valid job offer of at least one year in one of 29 listed tech occupations to be eligible for the BC Tech Stream. The job offer must at least be a minimum of 120 days from the time of application to the program, and must also be a full-time position from an eligible employer in British Columbia. Job offers of more than one year are also eligible under BC Tech Stream.
Once a candidate has successfully received a provincial nomination, they may choose to apply for permanent residency through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Class.
