Last September 2, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 602 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
A variety of candidates from different categories were considered for nomination. Upon successfully applying to the MPNP, they will be able to apply for Canadian permanent residency and settle in Manitoba through the federal PNP or Express Entry programs.
For this draw, candidates in different streams had different score requirements. For this draw, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) sent out Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to both skilled workers and international graduates in three different streams.
The results of the latest draw are as follows:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 463 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 445;
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 84 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 698;
- International Education Stream: 55 invitations with no EOI score requirement; and
- Express Entry-Linked Stream: 101 invitations with no EOI score requirement.
In order to qualify for an LAA, applicants must register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the Manitoba MPNP. They are then given a ranked score out of 1,000 points based on a number of human capital factors such as work, education, and ties to the province.
The EOI score is not linked to Express Entry’s CRS score. However, a provincial nomination does add an additional 600 points to a candidate’s overall CRS score. If candidates successfully obtain a nomination from the MPNP, this basically guarantees them an invitation to apply in the next Express Entry invitation round.
Candidates who have been invited through these streams were able to receive LAAs due to their potential to supplement the labor market needs of the province. The MPNP primarily focuses on individuals whose skills are in high-demand in Manitoba.
