British Columbia Invites 76 Candidates in Recent Tech Pilot

British Columbia recently invited 76 candidates from the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams to apply for a provincial nomination through their Tech Pilot.

Both the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams are further divided into the Skilled Worker and International Graduate. The minimum score required for all categories in both streams was 80 points.

Those who were invited through the Express Entry BC stream will automatically receive an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This effectively guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residency during the next federal Express Entry draw.

Candidates who wish to receive a nomination through the BC Tech Pilot are required to create a profile through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program’s (BC PNP) online portal. Applicants under the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration streams must register a profile through the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

SIRS assesses candidates based on a number of human capital factors and awards them points based on educational level, work experience, language proficiency, and employment location, among others. SIRS allows British Columbia to prioritize candidates that are the best fit for the province.

Candidates with skills that can fulfill labor market needs are often the top pick. Through the Tech Pilot, candidates in 29 varying tech occupations can apply for a provincial nomination to British Columbia. While candidates do not need to have a full-time, permanent job offer in order to be eligible for the pilot, a job offer of at least one year is required. Employers must also be located in the province of British Columbia.
