Recently, on November 3, Saskatchewan’s Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) held a new draw, selecting candidates from the International Skilled Worker category and inviting them to apply for a provincial nomination.

A total of 534 candidates from both the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams received an invitation to apply from Saskatchewan.

Candidates who were invited through this draw needed to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile to the SINP. The minimum cut-off score required for both categories was 68 points. Candidates are ranked by the SINP through a Points Assessment Grid, which awards candidates a score out of 100 points based on a number of human capital factors, such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and ties to the province.

Apart from the cut-off score, the eligibility requirements for both streams varied.

In order to receive an invitation from the SINP with only 68 points, the 272 candidates selected through the Express Entry category also needed to comply with the following criteria:

  • At least 10 years of work experience.
  • A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 8 or higher.

Otherwise, if candidates could not fulfill these requirements, they could still receive an invitation if they scored 69 points or higher.

Of the 272 candidates selected through the Express Entry stream, Saskatchewan sent invites to applicants in 47 different occupations. Should these applicants successfully receive a provincial nomination, an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score will effectively guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residency in the next federal Express Entry draw.

As for the 262 candidates invited through the Occupations In-Demand category, they were required to submit Educational Credentials Assessments in order to be selected for provincial nomination from the SINP.

Candidates in the Occupations In-Demand category do not have a profile in the federal Express Entry system and are invited by Saskatchewan to fulfill labor market needs in the province. For this draw, candidates from 55 occupations received an invitation.
