On April 22, Saskatchewan’s Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 269 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

For this draw, the SINP focused on inviting candidates who might be eligible for their International Skilled Worker stream. Candidates were divided among the Express Entry and and Occupations In-Demand subcategories, and required the following Expression of Interest (EOI) scores to be eligible for a nomination:

  • Of the 130 Express Entry candidates, a score of at least 70 points was required;
  • Of the 139 Occupations In-Demand, a score of at least 70 points was also required.

Candidates were also required to submit Educational Credential Assessments in order to assure that their education was comparable to Canada’s standard.

Apart from that, the SINP also required candidates to have work experience in an occupation that is not listed on the Excluded Occupations List on their website.

Candidates interested in settling in Saskatchewan through one of their many provincial pathways must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province’s online application system. The SINP’s EOI system allows the province to nominate individuals who have the potential to thrive and adapt to the province. The province rates potential candidates on a Points Assessment Grid and gives them a score out of 100 points based on factors like education, work experience, language skills, age, and ties to the province.

For candidates in the Express Entry substream, a registered profile in the federal Express Entry system is also required. If a candidate successfully receives a nomination from Saskatchewan, they are automatically awarded 600 points to their Express Entry profile, guaranteeing them an invitation in the next draw.

On the other hand, Occupations In-Demand candidates are not required to have a profile in the Express Entry system. Instead, this stream was created by the SINP to focus on skilled workers with experience in occupations that are in high-demand in the province who have not yet received a job offer.
