Last November 12, Ontario sent out 443 invitations to Express Entry candidates in their latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.
Ontario’s Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) selected hundreds of candidates in various occupations from the federal Express Entry system and invited them to apply for a provincial nomination. Those who were invited were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 469 and 477 points.
Candidates were required to have work experience in at least one of these nine occupations:
- Financial managers (NOC 0111);
- Advertising, marketing and public relations managers (NOC 0124);
- Corporate sales managers (NOC 0601);
- Financial auditors and accountants (NOC 1111);
- Other financial officers (NOC 1114);
- Professional occupations in business management consulting (NOC 122);
- Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses (NOC 3012);
- Allied primary health practitioners (NOC 3124); or
- Dieticians and nutritionists (NOC 3132).
It is likely that Ontario chose these candidates because of their eligibility for the province’s Human Capital Priorities Stream. The Human Capital Priorities Stream is Ontario’s Express Entry stream that is linked to the federal Express Entry stream, allowing the province to select candidates from the federal pool for provincial nomination.
In order to be eligible for the Human Capital Priorities Stream, candidates must fulfill the eligibility requirements for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A job offer is not needed for eligibility, but at least one year of paid, full-time work experience within the past five years is required.
Candidates who are able to successfully receive a provincial nomination from Ontario will automatically receive an additional 600 points to their CRS scores. This effectively guarantees them an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency in the next federal Express Entry draw.
