Canada broke their record for highest number of invitations in an Express Entry draw last November 18, sending out invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency to over 5,000 candidates in all three federal Express Entry economic class programs.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 472 points, in keeping with the current trend of inviting candidates with a CRS score of at least 470 for the last few Express Entry draws. The previous draw on November 10 had a minimum CRS score of 478 points.

Canada’s Express Entry system manages the pool of candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC), awarding them a ranking score based on a number of human capital factors.

A tie-break rule was implemented for this draw. In order to receive an invitation, candidates who obtained a CRS score of at least 472 were required to submit their Express Entry profile prior to October 27 at 06:18:11 UTC.

Canada recently held two consecutive draws inviting 4,500 Express Entry candidates each to apply for permanent residency. Up until the November 18 draw, these draws, as well as another draw held in February prior to the pandemic, all tied for the record for largest Express Entry draw.

In late October, Canada announced their new Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023, with their goal to invite at least 400,000 immigrants into the country every year for the next three years. With the current trend of record-breaking Express Entry invitation rounds, Canada seems to have already set their plans in motion.

As of the November 18 draw, the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 has now reached a whopping 92,350. This is the highest number of ITAs issued by the Express Entry system to this date.

Canada is poised to maintain a consistent flow of immigration into the country.
