Last October 15, Ontario held another Tech Draw inviting over 772 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
Candidates who were qualified for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream were likely to have received a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Those who received an NOI during the Tech Draw obtained a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 462 to 470 and were able to receive an invitation.
Candidates were also required to have work experience in the following fields to be invited during the Tech Draw:
- Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
- Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
- Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
- Computer programmer and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
- Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
While candidates are not required to have a job offer to receive an NOI, at least one year of work experience is needed.
An active profile in the Express Entry pool is also necessary. Those who wish to receive an invitation from the OINP create a profile through the Express Entry system, which manages the pool of economic class migrants.
The OINP then searches the Express Entry pool for eligible tech candidates, inviting them to apply for provincial nomination through the Tech Draw.
Candidates who have received an NOI have at least 45 calendar days to apply for a provincial nomination.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Ontario through the Tech Draw will be automatically awarded an additional 600 points to their overall CRS score, effectively guaranteeing them an invitation to apply for permanent residency during the next round of Express Entry draws.
This mark’s Ontario’s fourth Tech Draw of 2020. The Tech Draw is among the many pathways available to eligible tech workers seeking to obtain permanent residency.
