Recently, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) invited 330 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
On October 7, the province held two draws issuing invitations to eligible candidates through the NSNP. Nova Scotia invited 286 foreign skilled workers and 44 carpenters with active profiles in the federal Express Entry system. Both categories of candidates qualified for provincial nomination through the NSNP’s Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream.
The Nova Scotia Labout Market Priorities stream allows the NSNP to search through the federal Express Entry system for skilled candidates who can fulfill labor market needs in the province.
Each set of candidates had to meet specific requirements in order to be eligible for the draw.
In order to be eligible, the 286 skilled workers needed to comply with the following criteria:
- Candidates are required to have a full-time job offer of at least one year upon the issue of your permanent resident visa from a Nova Scotia employer;
- Candidates are required to have at least one year of skilled work experience related to the job;
- Candidates are required to have Canadian high school credentials or an equivalent;
- Candidates must score at least 5 or higher on their Canadian Language Benchmark for the English language; and
- Candidates must submit their application to the NSNP no later than 11:59 p.m., November 6, 2021.
Skilled worker candidates must also provide the following:
- Copies of language tests;
- Proof of education or equivalent;
- A job offer that includes the following:
- title and duties of the position related to the job offer;
- NOC Code;
- annual salary;
- number of weekly hours;
- duration of job offer;
- work address; and,
- if the position is unionized.
- If it is, attach a letter indicating so.
On the other hand, in order to receive an invitation from Nova Scotia, 44 carpenters needed to:
- Be primarily employed as a carpenter (NOC 7271).
- Provide reference letters from employers to prove that they have at least two or more years of skilled trades experience as a carpenter.
- For self-employed individuals, documentation from clients must be provided. This include the service rendered, as well as payment details. Affidavits and self-declared main duties does not count towards acceptable proof of work experience.
- Must score at least 5 or higher on their Canadian Language Benchmark for the English language. Copies of language tests must also be provided.
- Submit their application to the NSNP later than 11:59 p.m., Nov. 6, 2021.
