Last November 5, Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) invited over 205 candidates from three different streams to apply for a provincial nomination.
Candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Graduate streams received Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) from the province. All candidates who received an LAA filed an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the Manitoba PNP, and were awarded a score based on a number of factors. Depending on their stream, minimum EOI scores for the invited candidates varied:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba – minimum EOI score of 461;
- Skilled Workers Overseas – minimum EO1 of 708;
- International Graduate – no minimum EOI score required.
Of the 205 LAAs issued, the majority were received by candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, at 166 LAAs. Meanwhile, the Skilled Workers Overseas and International Graduate streams issued 16 and 23 LAAs respectively.
Both the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas were created by Manitoba in order to supplement labor market needs and invite global talent into the province. For this draw, only Skilled Workers Overseas candidates who were recruited under Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative were considered.
The International Graduate Stream, meanwhile, was created to invite graduates from learning institutions in Manitoba who have in-demand skills.
Seven of the LAAs that Manitoba PNP issued also went to candidates with profiles in the federal Express Entry stream. Should they successfully receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba, they will automatically be awarded an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This effectively guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residency during the next federal Express Entry draw.
As of this draw, Manitoba has now issued a total of 4,273 LAAs.
