On October 27, British Columbia held their weekly Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, inviting 354 candidates through the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams to apply for a provincial nomination.
Candidates in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled subcategories received invitations during this draw.
A minimum score was required to receive an invitation. The score for each sub-category were as follows:
- Express Entry BC (Skilled Worker): 92 points
- Express Entry BC (International Graduate): 93 points
- Skills Immigration (Skilled Worker): 93 points
- Skills Immigration (International Graduate): 94 points
- Skills Immigration (Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled): 75 points
This is among the province’s larger draws. The largest draw in the BC PNP’s history was on September 29, when the province invited over 450 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Candidates interested in applying for a provincial nomination from British Columbia must create a profile through the BC PNP’s online profile. Candidates must then be registered under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) in order to receive a provincial nomination through the Express Entry or Skills Immigration categories.
Applicants are then assessed on a number of human capital factors, such as age, educational level, work experience, language skills, and employment location. Based on the number of points they receive, candidates are then given a ranked score.
High-ranking candidates are then invited to apply for provincial nomination. If an applicant receives a provincial nomination, it can increase their chances of permanent residency.
For example, a candidate who received a provincial nomination through the Express Entry BC stream with an active profile in the federal Express Entry system will receive an additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This guarantees them a sure invitation to apply for permanent residency during the next Express Entry draw.
