Saskatchewan recently revealed the results of two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws that took place earlier this month. On October 7 and October 21, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 455 and 618 candidates respectively, to apply for a provincial nomination.
The 455 candidates who received an invitation on October 7 were invited through the SINP’s Express Entry stream, which is linked to the federal Express Entry system. The minimum required score for this draw was 70 points.
Following this draw, Saskatchewan invited 618 candidates on October 21. Candidates were invited through the SINP’s Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams. A total of 340 invitations were sent to Express Entry candidates, who needed a minimum score of 69 to receive one. Meanwhile, the 278 candidates who were invited through the Occupations In-Demand category were required to have a minimum score of 78.
Candidates invited through the SINP’s Express Entry-linked stream will receive an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This basically guarantees them a sure invitation to apply for permanent residency in the next federal Express Entry draw.
Meanwhile, the SINP created the Occupations In-Demand category for candidates without a profile in the federal Express Entry system. This stream was created in order to invite immigrants to fill in the gaps in Saskatchewan’s labour market.
According to recent data, over 3,040 Express Entry candidates were able to obtain invitations to apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
Another 3,018 received their SINP PNP invitations through the Occupations In-Demand stream.
As of these draws, Saskatchewan has currently invited a total of 6,082 candidates to apply for provincial nominations so far this 2020.
Skilled workers and other economic migrants interested in receiving a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan must file an Expression of Interest with the SINP.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their capacity to settle in Saskatchewan on their EOI profile, which will be ranked according to a number of factors, such as language skills, educational level, work experience, and ties to the province.
The profiles will be assessed based on the SINP’s Points Assessment Grid, which will award candidates a score out of 100 points.
High-ranking candidates have an increased chance of receiving an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination with Saskatchewan.
A job offer is not required in order to receive a nomination, but candidates must demonstrate at least one year of work experience in an eligible skilled occupation related to their education.
