Manitoba held its 93rd PNP draw last July 2, issuing a total of 125 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to various candidates, inviting them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada.
For a candidate to qualify, they are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the province in order to receive an LAA through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba or Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Those candidates who are under these streams help address the province’s economic needs. They are ranked for human capital factors such as Manitoba ties, work experience, education, language skills, and other factors, and are scored out of 1,000 points.
While candidates do not need to live in Manitoba when they submit their application, they must show ties to the province. Close family or friends, previous living experience in the province, or an invitation through Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives are a big help.
Those under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream must have a full-time offer of employment in Manitoba, and those under the International Education Stream must be a graduate of a designated learning institution in Manitoba.
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) candidates received LAAs under the following streams:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 101; with a minimum score of 475
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 6; with a minimum score of 816
- International Education Stream: 18
Ten of the candidates also had profiles in the federal Express Entry system.
As of this last draw, Manitoba has issued over 2,460 LAAs to various candidates this 2020.
