Canada recently announced that its labor shortage has reached an all-time high with 1 million vacancies. This comes as good news to aspiring immigrants who want to start a new career in Canada as the country will be looking at immigration to meet their current labor and economic needs.

In lieu of this, Randstad, a recruitment consultancy agency in Canada, shared what professions are currently in demand in Canada this 2022.

Here are some of the most in-demand professions in Canada this 2022:

Developers

The tech sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in Canada today. As more and more businesses are turning towards technical solutions, developers are currently highly in demand.

Registered Nurses

Healthcare professionals became even more highly in demand during the pandemic. Registered nurses, on the other hand, can rely on job security, competitive pay, and excellent benefits.

Engineers

There is a robust job market for engineers of all types. Because it is often difficult for employers to find local talent, they are extending their new to engineers trained outside of the country.

Accountants

Due to a lean market, certified public accountants (CPAs) and other accounting professionals are currently in demand in Canada.

IT Project Managers

Aspiring immigrants with diverse experiences in IT and project management can apply for this position. IT project managers usually oversee projects, guide the IT team toward meeting goals, and provide frameworks for development initiatives.

Other professions named in the report included key account managers, marketing managers, human resource managers, cloud architects, mechanical engineers, and customer service associates.

In order to qualify for Canadian permanent residency, your profession must be in one of the eligible National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories. Together with your human capital factors such as age, education, and language requirements, you will be ranked based on the number of CRS points you score.
