Last August 28, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program sent out invitations to apply for provincial nomination to 213 candidates in three different immigration streams. Candidates from the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Education streams were invited by the province in the latest draw.
Each stream had a specific Expression of Interest (EOI) score requirement for their candidates to receive a Letter of Advice to Apply. Below are the number of candidates from each stream who received an LAA, as well as the minimum score for each stream:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 171 LAAs with a minimum score of 475
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 8 LAAs with a minimum score of 824
- International Education: 34 LAAs with no EOI score requirement
As of this latest draw, Manitoba has issued 3,299 invitations to immigration candidates from these streams for this year. This marks the MPNP’s 97th draw since their program launched in April 2014.
Of the candidates who were issued LAAs in this latest draw, 23 had valid profiles in the federal Express Entry system. These candidates held both a job seeker validation code and a valid Express Entry ID.
Should they receive their provincial nomination, they will be awarded an additional 600 points to their total Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, effectively guaranteeing them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residency from the IRCC.
Those interested in immigrationg through the MPNP must submit an Expression of Interest through either the Skilled Workers in Manitoba or the Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Candidates who do so are scored out of 1,000 points for various factors, such as education, work experience, language skills, ties to Manitoba, and other human capital characteristics.
These two streams in particular allow Manitoba to select and nominate skilled workers who can compensate the province’s labor market needs.
Those applying through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream are required to have a full-time job offer from an employer in the province.
Those applying from overseas must demonstrate ties to Manitoba, whether through close family or friends, previous experience in the province, or by receiving an invitation via the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.
However, candidates need not be physically present in the province during the application process in order to remain eligible.
On the other hand, international students who have graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Manitoba may receive an LAA if their skills are in demand.
These are just some of the many options available for those who wish to migrate to provinces in Canada. If you’d like to know more about Enhance Visa and our Permanent Residency pathways, register to one of our private online orientations here.
