On November 18, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held its first draw in two months.
Coming in from their two-month break, the SINP its largest draw of the year, inviting 633 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The candidates were invited to settle in Saskatchewan through two different immigration streams:
- Express Entry-linked substream – 425 eligible candidates, minimum EOI score of 65 points;
- Occupations In-Demand substream – 208 eligible candidates, minimum EOI score of 65 points.
Candidates were also required to submit an Educational Credentials Assessment in order to be eligible. For this draw, the SINP invited candidates from 14 eligible occupations for each category. The full list of eligible occupations can be found on the province’s website.
More on the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
In order to receive an invitation through one of Saskatchewan’s immigration pathways, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province’s online application system. The SINP’s Expression Of Interest (EOI) system rates potential candidates on a Points Assessment Grid and gives them a score out of 100 points based on factors like education, work experience, language skills, age, and ties to the province. This allows the province to nominate candidates with the best potential to settle and thrive.
Candidates nominated through the Express Entry-linked substream are required to have a registered profile in the federal Express Entry system. If a candidate successfully receives a nomination from Saskatchewan, they are automatically awarded 600 points to their Express Entry profile, guaranteeing them an invitation in the next draw.
On the other hand, Occupations In-Demand candidates are not required to have a profile in the Express Entry system. Instead, this stream was created by the SINP to focus on skilled workers with experience in occupations that are in high-demand in the province who have not yet received a job offer.
