On July 29, Ontario held their third Tech Draw of this year, sending out invites to immigration candidates with work experience in at least one of six listed in-demand occupations.

This latest draw was the largest the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held for this year, with over 1,288 candidates invited. Many of these candidates were eligible for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 463 and 477.

OINP’s Tech Draw, in particular, invites candidates with experience in tech work from the Express Entry pool to receive a provincial nomination from Ontario.

Candidates are not required to have a job offer to receive an invitation from the OINP. However, at least one year of work experience is needed in at least one of the following listed occupations:

  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmer and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)

Candidates must also have a profile in the Express Entry system.

Those who have received a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP have 45 calendar days to submit an application to receive the provincial nomination.

Should they receive the nomination from Ontario, they will be rewarded an additional 600 points to their overall CRS score. This will guarantee the candidate is qualified to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. Anyone who receives a provincial nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) automatically receives the additional points.
