On September 23, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 650 invitations to immigration candidates who qualified for provincial nomination.
Various candidates from different categories were considered for provincial nomination. Upon receiving their invitation, candidates must apply to be nominated by the MPNP. Once candidates have successfully obtained their nomination, they may apply for Canadian permanent residency and settle in Manitoba through the federal PNP or Express Entry programs.
Candidates invited through the different categories had different score requirements to be qualified. The MPNP issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to both skilled workers, international graduates, and candidates from the federal Express Entry system.
Below are the results of the latest draw:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 529 LAAs issued, with a minimum EOI score requirement of 401;
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 67 LAAs issued, with a minimum EOI score requirement of 718;
- International Education Stream: 54 LAAs issued, with no EOI score requirement; and
- Express Entry-Linked Stream: 135 LAAs issued, with no EOI score requirement.
As of this draw, the MPNP has invited 8,041 PNP candidates to settle in Manitoba since the start of 2021.
More on the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program
For an applicant to receive an LAA from Manitoba, they must file an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP. Once they have registered their profile, candidates are then ranked out of 1,000 points and given a score. This is the basis for the EOI score, which awards candidates points depending on a number of factors, such as work, education, and ties to the province.
While the PNP’s EOI score is not linked to Express Entry’s CRS score, a provincial nomination does award an additional 600 points to a candidate’s overall CRS score. If a candidate can successfully obtain a nomination from the MPNP, this raises their score and effectively guarantees them an invitation to apply during the next Express Entry draw.
The MPNP’s goal is to invite individuals whose skills are in high-demand in Manitoba to settle in the province. Candidates are more likely to receive an LAA if they have skills that can supplement the province’s labor market needs.
