Alberta recently announced a new immigration pathway to attract foreign police officers to the province and address current police recruitment challenges. This is an exciting opportunity for Filipino police officers who are looking to take their careers to Canada.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Pathway

The Law Enforcement Pathway will soon be one of the various immigration programs offered under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

Who Can Apply for the Law Enforcement Pathway?

Those who can apply for Alberta’s Law Enforcement Pathway are:

  • Commissioned and non-commissioned police officers and other related occupations to public protection;
  • Police investigators and other investigative occupations;
  • Other specialized law enforcement occupations.

In addition to being in one of the above professions, interested applicants must also meet all of the criteria under Express Entry and possess a valid job offer from a member of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP).

Allocations for the Law Enforcement Pathway

Alberta’s Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, Muhammad Yaseen, announced that the Alberta Law Enforcement Pathway will have 50 nominations this year. This follows a measured approach to successfully integrating new immigrants into Alberta’s law enforcement framework.

How Can I Apply for Alberta’s Law Enforcement Pathway?

Alberta is yet to announce the eligibility qualifications for the Law Enforcement Pathway. However, as interested applicants must meet all the criteria under Express Entry, this is a good place to get started.
