Last September 30, Canada held a new Express Entry invitation round, sending out invitations to apply (ITAs) to 4,200 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residency in another all-program draw.
During this recent round, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 471, one point lower than the minimum score of the prior all-program draw held last September 16.
Among this draw’s more successful candidates were applicants in the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
The federal Express Entry system manages the pool of economic class candidates interested in obtaining permanent residency in Canada. Apart from the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Express Entry also manages candidates from the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Some candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are also managed by Express Entry.
Candidates are given a CRS score based on various human capital factors, such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and more. Candidates who receive high rankings are then issued ITAs during an Express Entry draw.
At times, a tie-break rule is implemented, as was the case with the September 30 draw. For this round, candidates with a CRS score of 471 who submitted their application before March 2, 2020 at 12:37:25 UTC received an ITA.
For the 3rd time in a row, Canada has invited another set of 4,200 candidates in an all-program Express Entry draw. Three draws have now tied for the second-highest number of candidates invited in the history of Express Entry, only about 300 invitations behind an all-program draw held last February 19, prior to the pandemic.
As of the September 30 draw, Canada has now issued 78,350 ITAs. Despite disruptions from the pandemic, the country has issued more ITAs at this time this year compared to the same time last year.
With these last three draws, Canada has reaffirmed their commitment to welcoming higher levels of immigration in the next few years.
