Canada Invites 557 Candidates in Recent PNP-Specific Draw

On July 22, Canada issued 557 invitations to apply for permanent residency to Express Entry candidates who received nominations from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This now brings the current total of immigration candidates invited to Canada this year to 54,357.

As compared to the 45,400 invitations issued this time in 2019, Canada remains on track to achieve their goal of issuing 85,800 invitations to apply (ITAs) this 2020.

This most recent draw was once again a specific draw, following the trend of Express Entry draws targeting either the PNP or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) during the course of the pandemic, since Canada closed their borders in March. One notable exception was the all-program draw recently conducted at the beginning of the month, on July 8.

Since this invitation round specifically invited candidates who received a provincial nomination, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 687, the lowest requirement for a PNP-specific draw this year.

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are automatically awarded 600 points to their CRS score, which means these candidates must have had an initial human capital score of 87.

With an additional 600 points to their CRS score, candidates who have received a provincial nomination are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for permanent residency.
