On August 17, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) conducted their biggest draw of 2021, inviting 396 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
For this draw, Alberta focused on inviting candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 300. This is the lowest score required to be eligible for a nomination with the AINP.
As of this draw, the ANP has now invited a total of 3,157 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination since it resumed issuing invitations in January of this year. The province took a short hiatus in 2020 prior to resuming invitation rounds this year.
The province of Alberta has been allocated a total of 6,250 nomination certificates this year.
More about the Alberta AINP Express Entry stream
The province’s Express Entry stream allows the provincial government to search the federal government’s Express Entry pool of candidates for profiles of people who may be eligible for a provincial nomination.
In order to be eligible for the provincial nomination through the AINP Express Entry stream, candidates are required to have work experience in an eligible occupation. The AINP does not provide a list of eligible occupations, but instead offers a list of occupations that are not eligible for the stream.
An ideal Express Entry profile should indicate a candidate is interested in moving to Alberta. Certain factors like having work experience or a job offer in the province may work in a candidate’s favor. Obtaining a post-secondary degree from a designated learning institute (DLI), or having a relative who is a permanent resident or citizen in the province can also increase a candidate’s likelihood of receiving a provincial nomination.
