On September 16, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) held their regular monthly draw, inviting 143 candidates for provincial nomination.
According to the PEI PNP, the majority of the invitations, 129 to be exact, went to candidates in the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The remaining nine candidates were invited through PEI’s Business Impact category.
This is Prince Edward Island’s eighth draw of the year. The total number of invitations they have issued thus far is now at 1,337.
Canada’s provincial nominee programs allow provinces and territories to invite immigration candidates who can supplement their labor market needs. The PEI PNP was created specifically for the province of Prince Edward Island.
The next PEI PNP draw is set to be on October 21, 2021.
More on Express Entry Category
The PEI PNP’s Express Entry category is linked to the federal Express Entry program. The program allows Prince Edward Island to invite candidates from the federal Express Entry system who can supplement the province’s labor market needs.
In order to qualify, candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the PEI PNP. From there, they will be ranked on the province’s unique scoring system. Depending on the number of points they receive, they will then be invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
More on the Labour Impact Category
The Labour Impact category is divided into three different subcategories:
- Skilled Worker, which invites skilled foreign workers;
- Critical Worker, which invites skilled foreign workers who can fill positions under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill level C or D;
- and International Graduate, which invites recent graduates from recognized accredited PEI universities and colleges.
Candidates interested in applying through this stream must have a valid job offer and support from an employer in PEI. The PEI PNP did not specify the minimum score required for this category.
More on the Business Impact Category
On the other hand, the Business Impact category is primarily focused on foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island. The Business Impact category invites candidates through their Work Permit stream.
To receive a nomination for this draw, candidates from the Business Impact category needed to obtain a minimum point score of 72 points.
