Lowest CRS Score for CEC Candidates in 2nd Express Entry Draw in 24 Hours

Less than twenty-four hours after the May 13 provincial nomination targeted Express Entry draw, Canada invited over 3, 371 Canadian Experience Class candidates in another draw last May 15.

This recent draw had the lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this specific stream since January 2019, inviting CEC candidates who held a minimum score of 447 or higher, five points lower than the previous CEC-specific draw and now the lowest CRS requirement of 2020.

The May 15 draw was the second round in 24 hours to send out ITAs for Canadian permanent Residency, bringing the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 to 38, 200.

This latest draw follows a recent pattern of minimum CRS scores decreasing in the last four CEC draws, given the regular and frequent draws the IRCC has conducted since Canada closed their borders last March 18. The frequent draws have seen that the Express Entry system has remained active, and shown candidates that can still submit their profiles.

In the last nine weeks, the IRCC has held over ten Provincial Nominee and Canadian Experience Class draws, sending out over 19,500 ITAs to Express Entry candidates applying for permanent residency.

With the current travel restrictions in place, the recent draws from these categories are possibly targeting candidates who are likely already in Canada and unlikely to be impacted by the border closure.
