INZ Grants Automatic Extension For Temporary Visa Holders Impacted by Coronavirus Pandemic

Immigration New Zealand recently announced they will be granting an automatic 3-month visa extension for temporary visa holders whose visas are set to expire between April 2, 2020 to June 25, 2020.

The automatic extension lasts until September 25, 2020.

Temporary visa holders whose visas are set to expire on or before April 1, 2020, must immediately apply for a visa extension through INZ’s online application system. However, interim visa holders may only apply for a visa extension, not a different visa type.

Normally, limited visas cannot be extended unless the original purpose of the visa has not been completed. However, INZ has allowed the extension in order to ease pressure off limited visa holders during the coronavirus pandemic.
