Ontario and British Columbia PNP Draw invite more than 250 candidates to apply for Permanent Residency.
The provinces of Ontario and British Columbia recently released the results from the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) draws this mid-August.
Most Canadian provinces operate their Nomination Programs, except for Quebec. Through these provincial programs, qualified candidates receive additional points to qualify for Permanent Residency.
When the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) was introduced, only 400 immigrants were invited to apply for Permanent Residency. Nowadays, over 80,000 immigrants successfully immigrate through PNPs.

On August 16, the province of Ontario held a PNP draw under the Entrepreneur Stream. Thirty candidates were invited to apply for residency, with scores ranging from 138 and 160.
This marks the first draw for the Ontario Entrepreneur Stream since 2021.
How does the Ontario Entrepreneur Stream work?
Similar to other provincial programs, candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to get the ball running. However, if they are invited to apply by the province, they will be required to attend a mandatory interview and provide a performance agreement instead.
If a candidate is successful, they will be issued a temporary work visa which will allow them to enter the country. After 20 months from the date of arrival, a business plan must be submitted to the province for a final review. If all requirements are met, candidates can proceed with their Permanent Residency application.
Who can Apply for the Ontario Entrepreneur Stream?
To be eligible for this stream, candidates must:
- Have business experience of at least 24 months in the last 60 months;
- Own or control at least one-third of the equity in the business;
- Be actively involved in the management of the business;
- Make a profit from the business;
- Create at least two permanent full-time jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program (BCPNP) Draw Results
On August 16, the province of British Columbia invited 223 candidates to apply for permanent residency. The invitations were issued to candidates under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, with the majority being tech professionals.
Apart from the candidates in tech positions, the province also held draws for candidates working in the following occupations:
- early childhood educators and assistants;
- healthcare workers;
- healthcare assistants.
