Express Entry Draw Invites 2000 Candidates to apply for Permanent Residency.

Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates who had Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 533 points. This is nine points lower than the last Express Entry draw held on July 20.

Additionally, this draw was open to candidates under all programs. The 2,000 invited candidates came from those who applied through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Since Express Entry draws were resumed in July, over 5,200 candidates have received Invitations to Apply (ITAs). Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) paused all Express Entry draws for 18 months due to the burgeoning backlog caused by the 2020 pandemic.

Canada intends to invite up to 56,000 candidates to apply for permanent residency this year. This number is expected to increase to 111,000 by 2024.

Applying for Express Entry

As Express Entry is a points-based system, the first step toward applying for Express Entry is by identifying your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score

The CRS score depends on a number of factors, including your civil status, age, and other human capital factors. For instance, if you are single and between 20-29 years old, you will be allotted 110 points. You will receive additional points based on other factors such as your education, work experience, language proficiency, and whether you have been sponsored by an eligible Canadian employer or province.

As evident in the August 3 Express Entry draw, where the CRS score cut-off was at 553 points, you will need to get at least the same number of points.

Each Express Entry draw will have a different cut-off score. It could be higher, or it could be lower. The general rule of thumb is to get as many points as possible to increase your chances of getting selected.

All Express Entry candidates need to create an online account which will be valid for 12 months. If you are not selected within the 12 months, you will need to update your requirements and submit a new profile.
