During Manitoba’s most recent Expression of Interest (EOI) draw, over 217 invitations for a provincial nomination were extended to immigration candidates seeking to settle down in Canada’s central province.
Last February 27, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its 84th EOI draw, extending invitations, also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to candidates from three immigration streams:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 161
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 24
- International Education Stream: 32
At least 20 invitations went to candidates with profiles in the Express Entry system, out of the 217 LAAs issued.
Eligible work experience in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations, among other requirements, is a must for candidates in order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba.
A separate Expression of Interest, which is an online profile that is ranked out of a score of 1,000, must also be submitted to the MPNP.
Candidates who score the highest receive an LAA, which allows a set number to apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba for Canadian permanent residence.
In the most recent draw, candidates with a score of 499 were invited under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream. In Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, the lowest-scoring candidate had a score of 707.
Through the Skilled Workers Overseas Category, the MPNP is able to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can help support Manitoba’s local labour market.
A key requirement for candidates invited through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Category is that they must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other criteria.
Under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, the MPNP directly invited over 24 candidates through the Skilled Overseas Stream.
International student graduates in Manitoba who possess in-demand skills are often invited through the International Education Stream through three sub-categories: the Career Employment Pathway, the Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
