Last September 10, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to 212 candidates from three different immigration streams, inviting them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency.
Applicants from the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Education streams received invitations from the province, provided they were able to meet the required Expression of Interest (EOI) score.
The number of LAAs issued and the minimum Express of Interest score for each stream were as follows:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 168 LAAs with a minimum score of at least 475;
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 9 LAAs with a minimum score of at least 824; and
- International Education Stream: 35 LAAs, no EOI score requirement.
This recent draw marks Manitoba’s 98th draw since the beginning of their provincial nominee program in April 2014. As of this draw, the province has now issued over 3,511 LAAs to immigration candidates in these three streams in this year.
Of the 212 LAAs sent out, 22 were issued to candidates with a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code. Should they receive a provincial nomination, an additional 600 points will be automatically awarded to their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, guaranteeing them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency from the IRCC.
Meanwhile, candidates who received an LAA through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas category were required to register an Expression of Interest with the MPNP. Candidates were given a score out of 1,000 points for various human capital factors such as language skill, work experience, education, ties to Manitoba, and more.
Those applying from overseas must demonstrate a close connection to Manitoba, whether through ties to family or friends residing in Manitoba, previous work or education experience in the province, or an invitation under one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. However, need not be physically present in Manitoba during the application period to remain eligible.
Those applying through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream are required to meet certain criteria, such as receiving a full-time permanent job offer from an employer located in Manitoba.
Those nominated under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories were selected by the province to support their labour market needs.
As for international students, those with in-demand skills who were able to graduate from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Manitoba may receive an LAA through the International Education stream.
